Pressing CalHR on equal holiday pay
ACSS has been fighting for holiday pay equity for state supervisors, managers, and confidential employees since the inequity was created in 2010.
In 2010 the rank and file union MOUs established "premium holidays." Because these premium holidays are only in the MOUs and not statute, excluded employees do not receive the additional compensation awarded to the employees they supervise.
Though ACSS has requested that CalHR correct this inequity on multiple occasions since 2010, to date the agency responsible for properly compensating the state's most dedicated and skilled workers has failed to do so. As part of our continuing mission to correct salary compaction and pay inquity, ACSS again requested that CalHR correct this inequity in July 2013. CalHR has yet to implement a fix for this problem.
