Nominate yourself as a Board Member!

Posted: 7/19/2024

Now is the time to act and become an integral part of ACSS!

Nominating yourself as a Board Member is a great way to get involved and become a part of positive change. Active ACSS members in good standing are eligible to nominate themselves for a position on the ACSS Board of Directors. ACSS needs your high-level skills and passion to lead. This Association is governed by members just like you!

  • Are you a natural leader? Do you want to gain more leadership skills?
  • Are you passionate about helping your fellow excluded employees' voices be heard?
  • Do you want to stand up for the rights of all excluded employees?
  • Do you want to help make ACSS a better organization?

Board Member Nominees will have the unique experience to attend Delegate Assembly on October 11 - 13, 2024, in Sacramento. At Delegate Assembly, the Delegates will cast their vote for Board Member for their Chapter. Prior to the vote, you will have an opportunity to address the Delegates and encourage them to vote for you. Results will occur immediately after the vote. Delegate Assembly is also a great opportunity to socialize, network, celebrate, and learn more about the Association.

Get involved and become a leader. Your voice matters!

You may nominate yourself or someone else as for a Board Member position. ACSS staff and your fellow Board Members will help train you. A position as a Board Member requires only minimal time and travel.

Main Duties of a Board Member:

  • Attend four Board Meetings per year (two virtual and two in-person) to discuss organizational improvements and represent the voice of Chapter members;
  • Vote on policy changes, legislative decisions, and budgetary items to improve the Association's operations;
  • Participate in legislative activities by meeting with legislators face-to-face to explain concerns on behalf of all excluded employees and urge change;
  • Participate in trainings, workshops and Chapter meetings to foster ongoing development and build relationships.

To nominate yourself for a Board Member position:

You are not required to attend Delegate Assembly in-person to be eligible for Nomination.
Current elected Delegates may also nominate themselves for a Board Member position.
