ACSS President Arlene Espinoza sat down with one of Gov. Brown's top legislative advisors at this year's Lobby Day to discuss fixing salary compaction.
Executive Secretary for Legislation, Appointments, and Policy Nancy McFadden stated that the Administration is aware of the problems that compaction brings, and said that they will be working closely with CalHR to ensure that a full cost analysis is produced as quickly as possible.
President Espinoza stressed the importance of shining a light on the issue - which has resulted in many state supervisors, managers, and confidential employees earning less than or the same as the employees they supervise.
"This has been an issue since the 90s, and it has only gotten worse," said President Espinoza.
"We've pushed reports and data for decades, and now it's time for a legislative solution to the problem."
President Espinoza met with multiple legislators in both the Senate and Assembly who have pledged their support to ACSS' current legislation to rectify compaction - SB 216.
